AdventHealth Daytona Beach seeks a patient communications specialist to handle inbound calls, coordinate referrals, and ensure timely access to care while maintaining confidential information.

Responsibilities include contacting insurers for prior authorizations, communicating with clinical staff, and tracking referrals in the EHR to support seamless patient journeys.

Qualifications

• Must have call center or practice telephonic experience.
• Knowledge of TJC requirements and local, state, and federal regulations.
• Experience as a MA-C or licensed nurse preferred.

Job Description:

• Answers inbound phone calls in a polite and professional manner.
• Completes tasks from referring providers to find the next level of care for patients.
• Faxes or makes phone calls to specialists' offices and patients regarding appointments.
• Contacts insurance companies for prior authorizations and ensures referred providers are in-network.
• Mails new patient paperwork and referral information to patients.
• Contacts patients regarding any in-progress or pending referrals.
• Maintains ongoing tracking and appropriate documentation in the referral tracking database and the patient's EHR.
• Communicates with clinical staff and physicians about issues related to patient referrals or the need for further follow-up care.
• Ensures referrals are addressed in a timely, consistent, and organized manner to avoid delays in patient care.
• Completes insurance verification when applicable.
• Generates and mails self-pay letters to patients as directed.
• Provides a safe, quiet, and private work environment free from distractions.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Computer proficiency required-in Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. [Required]
• Must have knowledge of TJC requirements and local, state, and federal regulations. [Required]
• Call Center/Practice Telephonic Experience for In and Out bound calls. [Required]
• Medical Terminology [Preferred]

Education:

• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
• Associate [Preferred]

Work Experience:

• Previous Call Center experience or similar experience [Required]
• 1+ experience as a ma-c or licensed nurse [Preferred]
• 1+ year experience as a lead role in a medical setting or other healthcare-related role [Preferred]
• Experience in various clinical areas inpatient or outpatient practices [Preferred]

• $16.79 - $26.86
