Job summary

AdventHealth in Orlando, FL is seeking a patient access coordinator to greet callers, schedule appointments, and coordinate with physicians and staff. The role requires professionalism, English communication, and basic MS Office skills; weekend coverage and 12-hour shifts are part of the schedule.

Knowledge of medical terminology and EMR experience are preferred. This position offers benefits from day one and requires eligibility for Florida background screening as applicable.

Qualifications

• High School Grad or Equivalency required.
• Prior experience in a medical/clinic office is preferred.
• Proficient in English; additional languages are a plus.

Job Description:

Answers the telephone in a professional and polite manner, communicating information to appropriate personnel. Notifies patients, physicians, and support staff of changes impacting the schedule. Updates information in the EMR as necessary. Interacts professionally with physicians, patients/families, and healthcare staff. Maintains a good working relationship within the clinic and with hospital departments. Other duties as assigned. Responds to voicemail messages promptly. Responds to all referrals within one to two business days. Obtains and enters EMR demographic and medical records/tests/scans/results necessary for the first office visit. Collaborates with navigators, schedulers, physicians, and office staff. Ensures verification of benefits has been obtained and clearly documented in EMR. Shift is 12-hour shifts from 6:45am to 7:15pm, 3 days a week, Weekend and holiday coverage is required, no set schedule. Team members receive schedules in advance, expect to see weekdays, weekends, and holidays as needed to support 24/7 operation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Professional, oral, and written communication skills in English [Required]

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) [Preferred]

Work Experience:

• Medical terminology experience [Preferred]
• Previous medical office background [Preferred]
• EMT/Paramedic licensure, CNA license with PCT, ICU, or In-patient experience [Preferred]
