Job summary

Wecom Fiber, based in Phoenix, AZ, seeks a Network Operations Field Technician to monitor, diagnose, and support our fiber network. The role blends NOC desk work at the Phoenix office with field installations and cabinet work across the Arizona area.

You will handle troubleshooting, equipment provisioning, and maintenance tasks as part of a rotating shift schedule. The ideal candidate has an IT/network background, experience with TCP/IP, BGP/OSPF, fiber optics, and network monitoring tools, plus

Qualifications

Associate degree in IT, Network Administration, or related field — OR — 3+ years of hands‑on NOC/network experience.
Working knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, and fiber optics fundamentals.
Experience with network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Datadog, Zabbix, Zenoss, or equivalent).
Familiarity with Juniper and Calix platforms, or willingness to get there fast.
Experience using a ticketing system for incident tracking and documentation (Jira, ServiceNow, or equivalent).
Ability to read and interpret network diagrams and fiber plant documentation.
Good interpersonal skills in supporting ISP customers.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for field assignments.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work outdoors in Arizona heat, and perform physical installation tasks.

Responsibilities

Monitor network infrastructure and respond to alarms and outages following runbooks.
Diagnose and resolve connectivity issues using packet capture, OTDR, and CLI diagnostics.
Configure and deploy routers, switches, firewalls, OLTs and ONTs; support XGS-PON cabinet provisioning.
Assist with installation, upgrades, and expansion; perform firmware updates and hardware replacements.
Track performance metrics and capacity; flag potential issues before impact.
Maintain records of configurations, incidents, and maintenance; generate reports.
Travel to field data centers and cabinet sites within Arizona to support installations.
Follow security protocols and regulatory standards; escalate anomalies.
Participate in network planning and expansion projects with senior engineers.
