Job summary

Socket Fiber is seeking an in-office Network Operations Center Technician to monitor fiber networks and support FTTH services. You will investigate alarms, outages and assist with provisioning for business customers in a fast-paced team environment.

The role emphasizes basic troubleshooting, remote diagnostics support for field techs, and thorough documentation while maintaining service quality and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Basic networking concepts including TCP/IP, Ethernet, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, IPv4, and basic routing/switching.
• Basic understanding of fiber optics and PON/FTTH technologies.
• Ability to understand network topology and identify affected elements.
• Familiarity with VoIP concepts and network monitoring systems.

Responsibilities

• Monitor network management, alarms and monitoring systems for events.
• Monitor FTTH/PON infrastructure including OLTs, PON ports, ONTs/ONUs, uplinks and interfaces.
• Track network availability, alarms, utilization, latency and performance indicators.
• Identify and respond to outages, degraded services and equipment alarms.
• Acknowledge, document and track alarms per NOC procedures.
• Perform initial troubleshooting and assess impact of events.
• Escalate issues per established NOC procedures.
