Qualifications

• High School Education/GED or equivalent required in CA; preferred in OR and HI
• Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience preferred
• Certified Phlebotomy Technician CPT I or CPT II or Medical Laboratory Technician license (MLT): required in CA; preferred in OR and HI

Responsibilities

• Obtains blood specimens by performing venipunctures and finger sticks.
• Verifies specimen identification and appropriateness of sample type/volume for indicated testing.
• Processes samples using aseptic technique and prepares required paperwork for testing.
• Confers with patients to obtain information for records and to explain procedures.
• Communicates with other departments and staff to facilitate lab workflow.
• Monitors and maintains equipment per regulations and follows guidelines for missed collections.
