Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a part-time, PRN phlebotomy technician for night and weekend coverage in a fast-paced clinical laboratory. You will collect blood samples, process specimens, register patients, and provide supportive phone assistance to care areas.

The role requires phlebotomy basics and strong adherence to safety and SOPs. Ideal candidates hold a high school diploma or GED with phlebotomy certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; phlebotomy certification preferred where phlebotomy is part of duties.
• Knowledge of lab techniques and safety practices.
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood by venipuncture and capillary methods accurately and timely.
• Process nonblood specimens promptly and correctly.
• Assist in specimen preparation, receipt, and transport.
• Register patients and provide courteous phone support.
• Maintain equipment and organize workspace; stock supplies.
• Train new staff and students in lab procedures and SOPs.
• Follow OSHA and safety regulations; use PPE and prevent contamination.
