Job summary

HCA Healthcare Laboratory Services is seeking a PRN Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist to support specimen collection, processing, and registration. Shifts include 9:00 PM–5:30 AM and/or 3:00 AM–11:30 AM with rotating weekends; the role supports diverse patient populations and adheres to regulatory standards.

Responsibilities include venipuncture, specimen processing, OSR reviews, and coordination with couriers and laboratories.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years in a clinical laboratory setting preferred.
• Phlebotomy, Medical Assistant, Paramedic or EMT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates understanding of specimen collection and testing requirements.
• Proficient in venipunctures and/or finger sticks across patient age groups.
• Uses laboratory information system and performs registration and order entry as requested.
• Collects, labels, centrifuges and prepares specimens for testing and courier pickup.
• Maintains documentation and follows procedures for specimen collection and patient identification.
• Communicates effectively with patients, family and healthcare staff to ensure quality service.
