Job summary

Meijer is seeking an Area Leader to drive team engagement and store performance. You will oversee Leads and Team Leaders, coach staff, manage onboarding, and ensure operational execution aligned with corporate plans.

You will direct staffing, budgeting, safety, and process improvements while upholding Meijer culture and inclusive practices. A Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years in retail or customer service are required, with progressive leadership preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• A passion to provide industry leading service.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members to provide clear and precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrates proactive/creative thinking and applies it to the business.
• Understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising meeting customer needs.

Responsibilities

• Engage with team members in span of care to onboard, train, develop, coach and provide feedback.
• Identify talent and engage in career discussions to support staffing and leadership pipelines.
• Hold candid discussions to uphold Meijer standards and enable growth within the organization.
• Oversee area operations and financial results by executing corporate plans to maximize sales and productivity.
• Drive safety, compliance, and overall store condition management, following procedures.
• Direct Team Leaders and Leads in assigning daily work and training needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.
