Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking a store leadership professional to plan, direct, and supervise day-to-day operations. You will mentor staff, manage staffing and training, and drive sales while meeting customer needs efficiently.

You will oversee staffing, develop career paths, resolve conflicts, and ensure adherence to company standards. The role emphasizes safety, attendance, and proactive leadership for exceptional service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other store areas (meat, bakery, produce, deli); customer service and product flow experience helpful.
• Strong communication with team members and leadership capabilities.
• Ability to resolve conflicts and address root causes.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and analyze financial data to inform decisions.
• Experience mentoring staff including hourly associates and team leaders.
• Completion of required certifications as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and supervise team members in day-to-day store operations.
• Mentor and coach team members to meet customer service and sales goals and uphold Meijer standards.
• Manage staffing, hiring processes, and onboarding to meet store needs.
• Promote succession planning and develop career paths for team members; participate in promotion decisions.
• Document disciplinary actions and recommend terminations when needed.
• Take responsibility for P&L, sales targets, and shrink control.
• Deliver exceptional, fast, and friendly customer service.
• Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in team meetings and conversations.
• Ensure thorough training of staff and maintain Meijer standards across operations.
• Spend most time on-store interacting with customers and team members to ensure service excellence.
• Maintain safe work environment and guarantee reliable attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
