Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking a store leadership professional to plan, direct, and supervise team members across store departments. You will coach staff, drive sales, and ensure customer-focused operations during peak hours, while maintaining store standards.

You will also manage staffing, training, and disciplinary actions, and participate in promotional decisions to develop career paths for team members within a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other areas of the store such as meat, bakery, produce and deli; also customer service and product flow experience is helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate to team members in the organization in a way that provides clear and precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and by addressing root cause issues.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor team members in all areas of the organization including SDITs, team members in hourly positions and team leaders.
• Successful completion of all required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and supervise team members in day-to-day operations within various store departments.
• Mentor and coach team members to improve customer service and sales.
• Implement strategies to drive store sales while meeting customer needs and ensuring efficient service.
• Maintain store appearance with focus on prime shopping hours and product presentation.
• Staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promote succession planning with career paths and development opportunities.
• Discipline documentation and recommendations concerning discharge.
• Responsible for P&L, achieving sales and maintaining shrink for the department.
• Model exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.
• Ensure team is trained in all job aspects and completes required training.
• Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in team meetings.
