Job summary

Meijer is seeking an Area Leader to drive team member engagement, coaching and performance management across the span of care. You will direct Leads and Team Leaders and be accountable for area operations and financials, including budgeting, safety, and scheduling.

You will identify talent, influence staffing, and implement process improvements while upholding Meijer’s culture and standards. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required along with 4+ years in retail leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• Strong customer service mindset and service leadership.
• Ability to communicate with teams with clear direction.
• Ability to analyze financial data to inform decisions.
• Commitment to working safely at all times.
• Understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising.
• Strong business acumen and innovative thinking.

Responsibilities

• Engages with team members to ensure onboarding, training and development with coaching and feedback.
• Identifies talent and supports staffing strategies for store needs.
• Conducts candid discussions to uphold Meijer standards and growth opportunities.
• Oversees area operations and financial results, monitoring budgets and productivity.
• Drives safety and compliance, and maintains store condition and procedures.
• Directs Leads and Team Leaders in daily assignments and training needs.
• Performs other duties as required.
