Stony Brook University Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse 1 (T&RC) for the CPEP unit on the night shift. The RN will assess patient needs, develop care plans, administer medications, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support acute psychiatric care.

The ideal candidate holds NYS RN licensure, a BSN, and at least one year of acute hospital experience, with preference for psychiatry/mental health exposure.

Qualifications

• Possession of or eligibility for a license to practice as a registered nurse in New York State.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• At least one year of previous hospital acute care experience.
• Experience working with patients with psychiatric and/or mental health disorders.
• Only licensed nurse experience in an acute care facility will be counted towards RN1 experience.

Responsabilités

• Assess the patient’s condition and nursing needs; coordinate nursing care activities with other health disciplines.
• Develop a written individualized care plan including teaching needs and discharge planning.
• Administer direct care when nursing skills are needed; administer medications.
• Practice infection control and maintain a clean, safe environment.
• Communicate changes in patient condition to Charge RN/Clinician.
• Develop and maintain the plan of care; set patient goals with patient/family.
• Document patient/family teaching and ensure alignment with physician instructions.
• Collaborate with staff and other departments.
• Participate in unit or hospital quality assurance activities.

Formation

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing

New York State RN license or eligibility

Acute care experience (1+ year)

Psychiatric and/or mental health experience
