Job summary

Parkland Health is seeking a qualified Registered Nurse for the night shift in our Med/Surg department. The RN will coordinate patient care using the nursing process, assess needs, and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with the health care team.

Responsibilities include patient advocacy, discharge planning, and maintaining compliance with applicable laws and hospital policies. Strong communication and precepting abilities are valued in this role.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Must have two years of nursing experience; acute care experience preferred.
• Current RN license (Texas Board of Nursing or Compact RN) or valid RN license.
• Current BLS for Healthcare Providers certification from an accepted program.

Responsibilities

• Serves as patient advocate focusing on patient rights, confidentiality, and cultural preferences.
• Maintains knowledge of rules, policies, laws, and guidelines affecting nursing practice and compliance.
• Promotes adherence to accreditation standards and quality care through process improvements.
• Completes patient assessments, discharge planning, and interdisciplinary communication with timely documentation.
• Provides direction to non-nursing staff as needed and participates in training or precepting new nurses.
• Stays updated on nursing practice developments and maintains Texas RN licensure and required certifications.
