Job summary

Holy Cross Health in Silver Spring, MD seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) or Graduate Nurse for a 12-hour night shift in the Med/Surg unit. This full-time role covers 36 hours weekly with opportunities to provide bedside care to acutely ill patients in a 16-bed unit.

Qualifications include MD RN license, BLS, and at least 1 year of acute care experience. BSN preferred. Competitive pay and comprehensive benefits available.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree required (BSN preferred). Note, if the BSN or MSN degree is not present on hire, the employee must sign an agreement to obtain within a specified time frame.
• Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.
• BLS certification (issued through the American Heart Association).
• At least 1 year of nursing experience in an acute care setting.
• Superb interpersonal, communication and collaboration abilities.
• Competency in electronic patient management systems.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support patient-centered continuum of care.
• Ability to communicate variances from patient goals and advocate on behalf of patient.
• Maintain accurate and timely healthcare records.
• Administer medications to patients, provide education and monitor for efficacy and side effects.
• Assess, monitor, report and record patient condition and pertinent changes.
• Design, implement and evaluate patient nursing care plans with healthcare team.
• Educates patients and family throughout stay and in preparation for discharge.
