Job summary

Holy Cross Health in Silver Spring, MD, is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) / Graduate Nurse for a 16-bed med/surg unit on a night shift. The role requires bedside care, nursing process application, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team.

Minimum qualifications include MD RN licensure (compact permitted), BSN preferred, BLS, and 1 year acute care experience. Excellent communication and EHR competencies are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred; if BSN/MSN not present, employee must obtain within a specified time frame.
• Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State.
• BLS certification (American Heart Association).
• At least 1 year of nursing experience in an acute care setting.
• Superb interpersonal, communication and collaboration abilities.
• Competency in electronic patient management systems.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support patient-centered continuum of care.
• Communicate variances from patient goals and advocate on behalf of patient.
• Maintain accurate and timely healthcare records.
• Administer medications to patients, provide education and monitor for efficacy and side effects.
• Assess, monitor, report and record patient condition and pertinent changes.
• Design, implement and evaluate patient nursing care plans with healthcare team.
• Educate patients and family throughout stay and in preparation for discharge.
