Job summary

Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) is seeking a Registered Nurse 2 for the Walla Walla Veterans Home. This is a part-time (80%) position on the Night Shift, scheduled Friday through Monday, 10:00 pm to 6:30 am, with no telework available.

Qualifications

• Current Washington state registered nurse license or multistate licensure.
• Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Must be proficient in the English language and able to read, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise the care provided by nursing personnel in the assigned area.
• Coordinate assignment of staff to residents and provide direction and information via accurate communication of current resident status and care needs.
• Plan, oversee, and evaluate work.
• Perform on-the-job training to newly hired staff.
• Assist the physician with physical examinations, techniques, and procedures.
• Examine residents to determine their need for medical care.
• Complete medication administration and treatment completion as ordered by the prescribing healthcare professional.
• Oversee the administration of medications.
• Coordinate communication and unit activities between the physician, social worker, psychologists, RN3s, and NACs concerning nursing care and agency policies.
