Job summary

The Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs seeks an on-call Registered Nurse 2 at the Walla Walla Veterans Home to deliver skilled nursing care.

As the on-call RN 2, you will supervise NACs, coordinate daily living activities, and support physicians in examinations and treatments.

This role is on-site with a rotation schedule requiring available shifts; candidates must hold WA RN license and English proficiency.

Qualifications

• Current Washington state registered nurse license or unencumbered RN multi-state licensure.
• Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Must be proficient in English.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise the care provided by nursing personnel in the assigned area.
• Coordinate assignment of staff to residents and provide direction and information via accurate communication of current resident status and care needs.
• Plan, oversee, and evaluate work.
• Perform on‑the‑job training to newly hired staff.
• Assist the physician with physical examinations, techniques, and procedures.
• Examine residents to determine their need for medical care.
• Complete medication administration and treatment completion as ordered by the prescribing healthcare professional.
• Oversee the administration of medications.
• Coordinate communication and unit activities between the physician, social worker, psychologists, RN3s, and NACs concerning nursing care and agency policies.
