Job summary

MercyOne Health System in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Registered Nurse for a part-time, 12-hour night shift on a fast-paced medical-surgical unit. You will deliver individualized nursing care to acutely ill adults and collaborate with the care team for safe, compassionate patient outcomes.

Schedule is 36 hours per week across three 12-hour shifts, with day and night options. Iowa RN licensure, BLS certification, and a commitment to safety are required.

Qualifications

• Possession of a current Iowa registered nurse license (or compact state license).
• American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers required within six weeks of hire.
• Strong patient care and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, and implement nursing care while ensuring patient comfort.
• Practice safe patient handling techniques.
• Continue to evaluate assigned patients and provide ongoing treatment.
• Anticipates, identifies, and responds to educational and emotional needs of patients and families.
• Guides and directs healthcare personnel in caring for patients.
• Maintains knowledge of equipment setup, maintenance, and use to maximize patient safety.
• Initiates emergency support measures as needed.
