Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine in Stony Brook, NY, is seeking a Registered Nurse 1 (T&RC) for the 9N Surgical Acute unit on a full-time night shift. You will deliver direct patient care, coordinate with interdisciplinary teams, and implement individualized care plans.

Requirements include NY RN license eligibility; preferred BSN and acute care experience; position includes comprehensive benefits and opportunities for professional growth. Shift hours are 7:00pm–7:30am with occasional schedule variations.

Qualifications

• Possession of or eligibility for a license to practice as a registered nurse in New York State.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and at least one year of hospital acute care experience.
• Only licensed nurse experience in an acute care facility will be counted toward RN1 experience.
• Acute care defined as short-term, intensive care requiring vigilant monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition and nursing needs; coordinate care with other health disciplines.
• Develop a written individualized care plan including teaching needs and discharge planning.
• Administer direct care and medications as needed.
• Practice infection control and maintain a safe environment.
• Communicate changes in patient status to unit leadership and care team.
• Develop and maintain current written plan of care; set patient goals.
• Educate patients and families consistent with physician orders.
• Collaborate with staff and departments to support quality initiatives.
