Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine seeks a Registered Nurse 1 (T&RC) for the 9N Surgical Acute unit on the full-time night shift in Stony Brook, NY. Requires NY RN license; BSN preferred with at least one year of acute care experience.

Qualifications

• Possession of or eligibility for a license to practice as a registered nurse in New York State.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and at least one year of previous hospital acute care experience.
• Acute care defined as short-term, intense medical services with vigilant monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition and coordinate nursing care with other health disciplines.
• Develop a written individualized care plan including discharge planning.
• Administer direct patient care and medications.
• Practice infection control and maintain a safe environment.
• Communicate changes in patient condition to Charge RN/Clinician.
• Develop and maintain current written plan of care for assigned patients and educate patient/family.
