Job summary

Methodist Midlothian Medical Center in Midlothian, TX seeks a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including ABG, PFTs, and ventilator support for both adults and neonates. The role operates under indirect supervision and requires competence across age groups with cultural sensitivity.

Requirements include accredited Respiratory Care Program graduation, Texas license, NBRC registration, and BLS/ACLS; NRP/PALS must be obtained within 1 year.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification.
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification.
• NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
• Texas Medical Board license in good standing as Respiratory Care Practitioner.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• At least 6 months respiratory care experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration and weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, Incentive Spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR and mechanical ventilation.
• Performs and reports prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures including arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function studies and electrocardiograms.
• Prepares a treatment evaluation with bedside respiratory physical assessment, patient interview and chart review.
• Uses critical thinking to determine appropriate actions.
• Interprets CXR, ABG and PFT data when reviewing patient data.
• Assembles, checks, operates and troubleshoots CP equipment such as ventilators, oxygen analyzers and blood gas analyzers.
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance tasks.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of cardiopulmonary equipment and work areas.
• Utilizes patient scripting to improve satisfaction.
• Performs other duties as required.
