Job summary

Methodist Midlothian Medical Center in Midlothian, TX, is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to perform ABG, PFTs and various ventilator and airway therapies for adults and neonates, under indirect supervision of the medical director.

The position requires graduation from an accredited Respiratory Care Program, Texas licensing, NBRC registration, BLS and ACLS, with NRP/PALS to be obtained within 1 year of hire; at least 6 months of respiratory care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the Texas Medical Board.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• Current Basic Life Support certification.
• Current Advanced Cardio Life Support certification.
• NRP and Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration, weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, Incentive Spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR and mechanical ventilation.
• Performs and reports prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures including arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function studies and ECGs.
• Prepares treatment evaluations including bedside respiratory assessment, patient interview and review of medical records.
• Interprets CXR, ABG and PFT data when reviewing patient information.
• Assembles, checks, operates and troubleshoots CPR cardiopulmonary equipment such as ventilators, oxygen analyzers and gas delivery devices.
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance tasks and maintains equipment and work areas.
