Job summary

Methodist Midlothian Medical Center is hiring a Registered Respiratory Therapist for night shifts. You will provide advanced respiratory care including ABG, PFT, and ventilator support for adults and neonates under medical director supervision.

Required qualifications include an accredited program graduate, BLS and ACLS, Texas license, NBRC registration, and at least six months of experience. NRP/PALS must be obtained within a year.

Qualifications

• Current Basic Life Support certification required.
• Current Advanced Cardiopulmonary Life Support certification required.
• NRP and Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
• Licensed by the Texas Medical Board and registered with NBRC.
• Minimum 6 months of respiratory care experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration, weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, incentive spirometry, airway maintenance and bronchial hygiene.
• Handles chest physiotherapy and CPR and participates in mechanical ventilation management.
• Performs arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, PFTs and electrocardiograms; reports findings.
• Prepares treatment evaluations via bedside assessment, patient interview and chart review.
• Interprets CXR, ABG and PFT data when reviewing patient info.
• Assembles, checks, operates and troubleshoots CPR equipment, ventilators and gas analysers.
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance activities.
• Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of cardiopulmonary equipment and work areas.
• Delivers effective patient communication to improve satisfaction.

Respiratory care experience (6 months)

Proficiency in respiratory assessment

Ventilator support familiarity

Education

Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program

Current Basic Life Support certification

Current Advanced Cardio Life Support certification

NRP / Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 1 year of hire

Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board

Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care
