Job summary

Dallas Center United Methodist is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide a range of therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory services, including ABG, PFTs, and ventilator support, for adults and neonates. Work is performed under indirect supervision per department policies.

The ideal candidate will hold an accredited Respiratory Care Program degree, current BLS and ACLS, Texas licensure, and NBRC registration, with 6+ months experience; NICU experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Current Advanced Cardio Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
• NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
• Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board in good standing.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• At least 6 months respiratory care experience.
• NICU experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration, weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, and chest physiotherapy.
• Conduct prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures: ABG analysis, pulse oximetry, PFTs, ECGs.
• Prepare treatment evaluations with bedside assessment and medical record review.
• Use critical thinking to determine appropriate actions.
• Interpret CXR, ABG, and PFT data when reviewing patient information.
• Set up, operate, and troubleshoot respiratory equipment (ventilators, oxygen devices, analyzers).
• Participate in infection control, safety, and quality assurance tasks.
• Perform cleaning and maintenance of cardiopulmonary equipment and work areas.
• Utilize patient scripting to improve satisfaction.
• Perform other duties as required.
