Job summary

Methodist Southwest Medical Center in Dallas is hiring a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to perform ABG, PFTs and various ventilator and airway support therapies for adults and neonates under indirect medical director supervision.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited Respiratory Care Program, current BLS and ACLS, NRP and PALs within 1 year of hire, Texas license as Respiratory Care Practitioner, NBRC registration, and a minimum 6 months of respiratory care experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification.
• Current Advanced Cardio Life Support certification.
• NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support — must obtain within 1 year of hire.
• Currently licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• At least 6 months respiratory care experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration and weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, Incentive Spirometry, airway maintenance and bronchial hygiene.
• Performs cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures: ABG, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function tests, ECGs.
• Prepares treatment evaluations with bedside assessments and chart reviews.
• Interprets CXR, ABG, and PFT data when reviewing patient data.
• Sets up, operates and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment (ventilators, oxygen analyzers, delivery devices, gas analyzers).
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance tasks.
• Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment and work areas.
• Provides appropriate patient scripting to support satisfaction.

Education

Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program

Current Basic Life Support certification

Current Advanced Cardio Life Support certification

NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support — must obtain within 1 year of hire

Texas Medical Board license — Respiratory Care Practitioner
