Job summary

Methodist Southwest Medical Center is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide adult and neonatal respiratory care, including ABG, PFTs, and ventilator support, under supervision. The ideal candidate holds Texas licensure, NBRC registration, and current BLS/ACLS with NRP/PALS within a year of hire.

Responsibilities include diagnostic procedures, patient assessments, equipment management, infection control, and safety.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification required.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification required.
• NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support— must obtain within 1 year of hire.
• Currently licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• At least 6 months respiratory care experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration and weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, Incentive Spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR and mechanical ventilation.
• Performs and reports prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures including arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function studies, and electrocardiograms.
• Prepares a treatment evaluation including bedside respiratory assessment, patient interview and review of medical record.
• Perform actions using critical thinking skills.
• Interpretation of CXR, ABG, and PFTs when reviewing patient data.
• Assembles, checks, operates and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment.
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance tasks.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of equipment and work areas.
• Utilizes appropriate customer scripting to improve patient satisfaction.
• Performs other job duties as required
