Job summary

Methodist Richardson Medical Center in Texas is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to perform arterial blood gas analysis, PFTs, and ventilator support for adults and neonates, under supervision. The ideal candidate will have graduated from an accredited Respiratory Care Program, hold BLS and ACLS, obtain NRP within 1 year, Texas license, NBRC registration, and prefer 6 months of experience.

This role requires infection control, safety and quality focus, and data interpretation

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification required.
• Current Advanced Cardio Life Support certification required.
• NRP/PALS must obtain within 1 year of hire.
• Texas license in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• At least 6 months of respiratory care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration and weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, Incentive Spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR and mechanical ventilation.
• Performs and reports arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function studies and electrocardiograms.
• Prepares treatment evaluations with bedside respiratory assessment, patient interview and medical record review.
• Uses critical thinking to determine appropriate actions.
• Interprets CXR, ABG, and PFT data when reviewing patient information.
• Assembles, checks, operates and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment such as ventilators, oxygen analyzers and gas delivery devices.
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of cardiopulmonary equipment and work areas.
• Uses customer scripting to enhance patient satisfaction.
• Performs other job duties as required.
