Job summary

Methodist Richardson Medical Center is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide advanced respiratory care including ABG analysis, PFTs, and ventilator support for adults and neonates. You will work under indirect supervision of the department’s medical director, following facility policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate has an accredited respiratory care education, current BLS and ACLS, NBRC registration, Texas licensure, and a willingness to obtain NRP/PALS within one

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Current ACLS certification required.
• NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
• Texas Medical Board license as Respiratory Care Practitioner in good standing.
• Registered by the NBRC.
• At least 6 months respiratory care experience preferred, new graduates may apply.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration and weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, Incentive Spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR and mechanical ventilation.
• Performs and reports prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures: ABG analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function studies, and ECGs.
• Prepares a treatment evaluation with bedside assessment, patient interview and chart review.
• Interprets CXR, ABG, and PFT data when reviewing patient information.
• Operates and troubleshoots CP equipment such as ventilators, oxygen analyzers, and blood gas analyzers.
• Maintains infection control, safety and quality assurance.
• Cleans and maintains equipment and workspace as required.
• Uses patient scripting to improve satisfaction and outcomes.
• Performs other duties as required.
