Job summary

Amcor in Ames, IA is seeking a Production Supervisor to efficiently operate a production department, supervise hourly staff, and ensure safety, quality and productivity on a 12-hour night shift (7p–7a).

Required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 3–5 years in plastics production; strong leadership, training, and data interpretation skills. Focus on coaching, labor optimization, and budgeted performance within a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field.
• 3–5 years experience in a production environment.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documentation and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Supervises hourly employees performing production operations.
• Conducts on-the-job training for new or reassigned employees.
• Evaluates employee performance per guidelines and oversees hiring/promotion decisions.
• Controls labor within department and reallocates labor on idle equipment.
• Monitors quality, safety, and production standards and responds to variances.
• Reports downtime, scrap, and machine performance; may shut down equipment when needed.
