Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a dedicated Unit Secretary/PCA for a full-time night shift. You will provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Clinical Nurse and support the patient care team.

You will also handle unit clerical tasks, maintain patient records, assist with scheduling tests, and ensure a clean, safe environment. CPR/BLS certification may be required or obtained through the IU Health PCA program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CPR may be required or completed via unit secretary training program.
• Experience in acute patient care or completion of IU Health PCA program preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support certification may be required per unit policies.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of infection control principles.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care under the direction of a Clinical Nurse.
• Provides support to the patient care team and the unit staff.
• Maintains a clean and orderly environment for the patient.
• Provides information, directions and assistance to physicians, patients, families, customers and vendors.
• May schedule tests and procedures and maintain patient records.
• May sign patients in and out of the unit and assist with ordering, receiving and delivering equipment.
• May provide continuous observation including suicide prevention when required.
