University of Michigan Health-West is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Progressive Care Unit on night shifts. The role supports RNs with basic nursing care and daily patient tasks, with a 0.3 FTE (12 hours per week) schedule.

The candidate will assist with activities of daily living, hygiene, nutrition, and vital signs, while maintaining patient confidentiality and safety. BLS/CPR certification is required, and prior acute or extended care experience is preferred.

Formación

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CNA certification or enrollment in health science program preferred; or equivalent health care experience.
• Current BLS/CPR provider required.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and patient confidentiality preferred.
• Experience in acute or extended care facility preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Assist patients with activities of daily living and provide for comfort.
• Assist with hygiene activities.
• Provide catheter care (excluding insertion) and dressing changes.
• Assist with postmortem care.
• Assist with nutrition, passing trays and recording intake.
• Assist with elimination and recording input/output.
• Collect and label sputum, urine and stool specimens; test urine with a glucometer.
• Measure and record vital signs and weights; use scales as needed.
• Set up and operate oxygen flow meters and suction equipment; manage related devices.
• Apply and remove ice packs, heat wraps, and supports; follow infection control practices.
• Document care as directed by the RN and communicate observations.
