Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Technician Registry at the CDH Surgical Care Center for night shifts. This 49-bed unit cares for post-surgical orthopedic and general surgery patients. The role supports an RN with basic patient care, vital signs, glucose checks, and daily living activities.

Qualifications

• Performs basic nursing care activities under RN supervision.
• Monitors vital signs and records intake/output.
• Assists with personal care and activities of daily living.
• Reports abnormal findings to nursing staff promptly.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic nursing care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.
• Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming and eating.
• Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
• Assists with keeping patient rooms clean and orderly.
• Demonstrates flexibility, organization, and multi-tasking under stress.
• Utilizes critical thinking to prioritize unit work changes.
• Serves as liaison between patient care units and other departments.
• Answers calls and communicates information to staff/family/patient.
• Manages unit workflow with charge RN/manager as needed.
• Pre-census and validates daily admission/discharge lists.
• Requires CNA/EMT/MA or RN clinical rotation completion.
