Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is hiring a Patient Care Technician for the Inpatient-Delnor Medical Surgical Unit. Three 12-hour nights with every other weekend and rotating holidays. Under RN supervision, performs basic care activities and supports patient comfort and safety.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, and CNA/CMA/EMT certification with BLS. Training and benefits are provided within a competitive care system.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or EMT with one semester of clinical completed.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.
• Preferred: CNA program graduate or Phlebotomy course completion.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic patient care activities as delegated by an RN, including monitoring vital signs and recording intake/output.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, and eating.
• Reports abnormal findings to nursing staff.
• Keeps patient rooms clean and orderly.
• Manages unit workflow with the charge RN and supervisor as needed.
• Answers calls, intercoms, and communicates with staff and family.
