Job summary

Northwestern Memorial Healthcare is seeking a Patient Care Tech for the Surgical Care Center on a part-time night schedule. The role requires a high school diploma and certification such as CNA/CMA/EMT, or a nursing student with clinical exposure.

BLS certification is required to support patient care tasks in a fast-paced setting. The incumbent will assist with basic nursing duties, monitor vital signs, aid in activities of daily living, and communicate changes to the RN.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• CNA, CMA, EMT or nursing student with one semester of clinical completed.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic nursing care activities as delegated by an RN and monitors vital signs.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living including bathing, grooming, and eating.
• Reports abnormal findings to nursing staff and maintains patient safety.
• Keeps patient rooms clean and orderly and prioritizes unit workflow.
• Demonstrates flexibility and ability to work under stress while coordinating with staff.
• Acts as liaison between patient care units and other departments; handles communications.
