Job summary
Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk, VA is seeking a Patient Care Technician for a full-time night shift on the Medicine Unit. Hours are 7PM to 7AM with three 12-hour shifts and rotating weekends.
The PCT role includes assisting with admissions/discharges, monitoring patient conditions, and following safety protocols under a nurse's supervision. BLS within 90 days and healthcare experience preferred.
Qualifications
- HS diploma or equivalent.
- One of the following programs: Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, CNA, NCMA, NCPCT, Navy Hospital Corps School, EMR/EMS/EMT training, or current enrollment in a clinical program having completed at least one semester of RN, LPN, RT or PT or prior work as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.
- AHA BLS certification within 90 days of hire; education: one year of health care experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide patient care under the direct supervision of a professional nurse.
- Support the admissions and discharge process.
- Observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and report any change to the nursing.
- Adhere to patient safety practices and unit policies.
