Job summary

IU Health is seeking a dedicated Patient Care Technician for a full-time night position. As a bedside caregiver, you will provide compassionate patient care such as serving drinks, assisting with meals, aiding with mobility, and delivering clean linens and gowns.

You will support the bedside RN by monitoring vital signs, reporting any abnormalities, and applying safety measures to ensure patient safety. This role requires readiness to handle a fast-paced environment and uphold high standards of

Qualifications

• Requires current Basic Life Support certification through the AHA or completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Requires knowledge of care appropriate to the age and developmental level of patients served.
• Requires up-to-date knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care activities.
• Requires proficiency in interpersonal and communication skills.
• Requires ability to withstand a high level of tension and stress.
• Requires ability to read and perform basic math.
• Requires ability to organize tasks and attend to details.

Responsibilities

• Provide drinks, assist with meal ordering, and encourage walking.
• Assist with baths and provide clean linens and gowns.
• Support bedside RN by obtaining vital signs and reporting abnormalities.
• Maintain patient safety using gait belts, alarms, and staying within arm's reach.
