Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Leominster, MA is seeking a Patient Care Technician I/II to join the care team. Under licensed clinician supervision, you will perform a variety of patient care activities and receive workplace education to support the healthcare team.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and BLS certification within 30 days. Strong English communication, basic computer skills and medical terminology knowledge are essential, with a focus on calm performance under stress.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school education or GED.
• Basic Life Support certification within 30 days as a condition of employment.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English in a clear and concise manner.
• Basic computer skills.
• Basic Medical Terminology knowledge.
• Must be able to remain calm when under stress or in emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations and changes seen in patients.
• Provides constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned by the Resource Nurse or designee.
• Assists in creating a safe environment and uses de-escalation techniques; aids in restraints when directed by training.
• Assists patients with daily living activities such as hygiene, ambulation, meals and nourishment.
• Lifts, moves, positions, and transports patients using proper safety techniques.
