Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Leominster, MA is seeking a Patient Care Technician II to join the Extended Care Unit on a 12‑hour night shift. You will assist with daily living activities, monitor vital signs, perform EKGs and POC tests, and support the healthcare team.

This non-exempt role requires a high school diploma or GED, BLS within 30 days, English proficiency, and basic medical terminology, with the ability to stay calm under stress.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of employment.
• English proficiency and basic medical terminology required.
• Ability to remain calm under stress or in emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding patient observations and changes.
• Provides constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned.
• Assists with daily living activities and mobility.
• Assists in moving, lifting, and transporting patients using proper safety techniques.
• Performs vital signs, weight/height measurements, and basic specimens handling.
• Performs EKGs, POC tests, and bladder scanning per hospital standards.
• Assists with treatments and procedures and prepares equipment as needed.
• Replenishes patient care supplies and maintains a safe environment.
