UMass Memorial Health - Harrington Hospital, Inc. is seeking a Patient Care Technician I to join the night shift team in a fast-paced hospital setting in Southbridge, MA.

Under licensed supervision, you will perform a variety of patient care activities, including vital signs, EKGs, and daily living assistance. Responsibilities include constant observation of high‑risk patients, ensuring safety, and supporting RNs and practitioners with treatments.

Qualifications

• Minimum: high school diploma or GED.
• Basic Life Support certification within 30 days as a condition of employment.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English clearly.
• Basic medical terminology knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Provide clear, timely communication to the RN regarding patient observations.
• Constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned.
• Assist in maintaining a safe environment and de-escalation as needed.
• Help patients with daily living activities and mobility.
• Assist in moving, lifting, and transporting patients using safe techniques.
• Maintain patient safety checks and follow restraint policies.
• Take and record vital signs and measurements.
• Perform EKGs, POC tests, and collect specimens for lab.
• Assist with unit procedures and equipment readiness.
• Support treatments and procedures with equipment and supplies.
• Monitor intake/output and ostomy care as directed.
• Foster respectful, culturally appropriate communication.
• Replenish supplies and coordinate with team as needed.
• Stay informed on unit changes and training; precept new staff.
