Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCA) to provide bedside care as part of the patient care team. Duties include assisting with meals, mobility, baths, and linen changes, while supporting the bedside RN with vital signs and rapid response to changes.

The role emphasizes compassion, a caring bedside manner, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. AHA BLS certification or completion of IU Health PCA program is required.

Qualifications

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the AHA or completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Knowledge of care appropriate to the age and developmental level of patients served.
• Knowledge of infection control principles.
• Ability to perform physically demanding, repetitive movements.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with drinks, meals, walking, bathing, and providing clean linens and gowns.
• Provide clinical assistance to bedside RN by obtaining vital signs and reporting abnormalities.
• Maintain patient safety with gait belts, alarms, and close proximity during movement.
• Ensure compassionate, patient-centered care in a fast-paced hospital environment.
