Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCA) to provide exceptional bedside care and support to patients. The role involves assisting RNs, taking vital signs, and helping with daily activities in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the AHA or through the IU Health PCA education program.
• Knowledge of age-appropriate patient care and ongoing safety procedures.
• Up-to-date knowledge of patient care procedures and standards.
• Proficiency in interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to withstand high stress in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to manage a high workload and prioritize tasks.
• Ability to read and perform basic math.
• Knowledge of infection control principles.

Responsibilities

• Provide bedside support by obtaining vital signs and reporting changes to the RN.
• Assist with activities of daily living such as meals, mobility, baths, and linens.
• Maintain patient safety using gait belts and bed/chair alarms and stay within arm's reach during movement.
• Collaborate with the care team to anticipate patient needs and enhance the patient experience.
