Job summary

IU Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to assist bedside care, including helping with meals, ambulation, baths, and linen changes. You will monitor vital signs and communicate changes to the RN to support rapid response.

The role emphasizes safety, infection control, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment to provide exceptional patient experiences and support for IU Health patients.

Qualifications

• Requires current Basic Life Support certification through the AHA or IU Health PCA program.
• Knowledge of care appropriate to the age and developmental level of the patients served.
• Up-to-date knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care activities.
• Proficiency in interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high workload.
• Infection control knowledge and aseptic techniques.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and organize work.

Responsibilities

• Provide drinks, assist with meals, encourage walking, assist with baths, and supply clean linens and gowns.
• Obtain vital signs and report abnormalities to the bedside RN or charge nurse.
• Maintain patient safety using gait belts, bed and chair alarms, and stay within arm's reach.
• Support with mobility and basic caregiving tasks in a fast-paced hospital setting.
