Responsibilities include organizing daily work, prioritizing patient needs, and participating in safety and quality improvement initiatives while maintaining a caring, respectful environment for patients and families.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of patient care processes and safety practices.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families and staff.
• Basic documentation and handoff skills.

Responsibilities

• Communicate accurate information during handoffs to patients, families, and staff.
• Ensure essential parties receive information to support optimal outcomes.
• Provide safe patient care under supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Observe patient condition changes and report to the licensed nurse.
• Communicate with patients respecting age, language, culture, and fears.
• Document patient care in real time.
• Protect patient privacy by proper doors/curtains and information security.
• Respond to emergencies within scope of practice.
• Support practice changes to improve performance.
• Organize and prioritize daily work considering patient and team needs.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient rooms.
• Identify quality improvement opportunities.
• Prioritize tasks and propose changes with supervisor.
• Adhere to Mercy safety guidelines and report unsafe conditions.
