Job summary

MercyOne Health System in the Des Moines metro area is seeking a Patient Care Tech to support clinical staff by delivering direct patient care during 12-hour night shifts, with rotating weekends and holidays. The role requires assisting with activities of daily living, monitoring vital signs, and maintaining patient safety.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age.
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter – Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three (3) months of hire.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six (6) weeks of hire).

Responsibilities

• Delivers assigned patient care and treatment as delegated by an RN or LPN.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living and personal hygiene.
• Responds to patient calls and ensures safety and comfort through rounding and safe handling techniques.
• Prepares patients and rooms for procedures, admissions, and transfers and assists with transportation.
