Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Nursing Float Pool. This full-time night shift role (7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.) involves sitter duties when needed and floating to different units as required.

You will work under the supervision of an RN to provide essential patient care and support to our diverse hospital teams. Required qualifications include a High School Diploma or equivalent, CNA/CMA/EMT or nursing student with clinical experience, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• CNA, CMA, EMT or nursing student with one semester of clinical completed.
• American Heart Association BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic nursing care activities under RN supervision, including vital signs and glucose monitoring.
• Assist with activities of daily living and personal care.
• Report abnormal findings to nursing staff promptly.
• Keep patient rooms clean and orderly.
• Demonstrate flexibility, organization and multitasking in a fast-paced unit.
• Prioritize tasks and manage unit workflow with RN/charge nurse as needed.
• Serve as liaison between patient care units and other departments.
• Answer calls and communicate information to staff and families.
• Assist with census validation and daily admission/discharge activities as needed.
