Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Tech to support basic nursing care under RN supervision. You will monitor vital signs, assist with daily living activities, and help maintain a clean, safe patient environment.

The position is full-time, 72 hours per pay period, night shift from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with alternating weekends and holidays. Qualifications include a high school diploma, CNA/CMA/EMT or nursing student with one semester, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• CNA/CMA/EMT or nursing student with one semester completed preferred.
• American Heart Association BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic nursing care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN.
• Monitors vital signs, blood glucose, and records intake/output.
• Assist patients with ADLs: bathing, grooming, eating.
• Report abnormal findings to nursing staff.
• Keep patient rooms clean and orderly.
• Prioritize tasks and manage unit workflow during shifts.
• Liaise between patient care units and other departments.
• Answer calls, intercoms, and communicate with staff/family/patient.
• Assist with census validation and daily admissions/discharges as needed.
