Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown seeks a patient care assistant to support direct care under the supervision of registered nurses. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire, with prior patient care preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• BLS or HeartSaver First Aid certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
• Previous patient care experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in direct patient care and daily living activities under RN direction.
• Transport patients and specimens as needed and maintain safety.
• Perform basic phlebotomy and routine tests per policy where allowed.
• Record vital signs and monitor patient condition, reporting changes to RN.
• Support with examinations, procedures, and rehab activities as directed.
• Maintain clean, safe environment and proper equipment handling.
