Emerus in Converse, TX, seeks an Admissions Specialist to act as a liaison between patients, families, payers and the hospital revenue cycle. You will verify demographics, secure payments, verify insurance benefits and obtain authorizations to maximize reimbursement while delivering excellent customer service.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, 1 year of registration/insurance verification experience, knowledge of major plans, and strong MS Office/English skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 1 year of patient registration and insurance verification experience; 2 years preferred.
• Emergency Department registration experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) and payors.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology.
• Excellent customer service.
• Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Fluency in English, written and oral.

Responsibilities

• Maintain EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA compliance in Admissions settings.
• Provide excellent customer service and build relationships with customers.
• Answer telephone professionally and relay messages to staff.
• Obtain signatures on forms and consents.
• Enter complete demographic information to facilitate revenue cycle.
• Verify insurance benefits and correct payor/plan in the system.
• Obtain insurance authorizations as required by plans.
• Pursue collections at the time of service in a customer-friendly way.
• Scan and maintain medical records and registrations.
• Coordinate transfers between hospitals when necessary.
• Respond to medical record requests from patients and providers.
• Maintain cash drawer and logs for payments and admissions.
• Maintain visitor/vendor logs.
