Job summary

Emerus, a leader in small-format hospitals, is seeking a Night Shift Patient Access Specialist to serve as a liaison among patients, payers, Patient Financial Services, and the hospital team.

You will verify demographics, secure payment responsibility, maximize reimbursement, and help with registration, insurance verification, and authorizations.

Strong customer service, attention to detail, and English proficiency are required; bilingual English/Spanish preferred in some markets.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience preferred.
• Emergency Department registration experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of various insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) and payors.
• Fluency in English; bilingual English/Spanish preferred in the El Paso market.

Responsibilities

• Verify demographics and insurance to maximize hospital reimbursement.
• Provide excellent customer service and protect patient safety at arrival.
• Obtain signatures on required forms and consents.
• Enter complete demographic data into revenue cycle system.
• Verify benefits and obtain authorizations as required.
• Handle cash drawer and maintain records.
• Coordinate patient transfers between facilities.
