Job summary

Emerus is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to serve as a liaison among patients, payers, and the hospital team. The role focuses on gathering demographic information, securing financial responsibility, and maximizing hospital reimbursement.

You will verify insurance benefits, obtain authorizations when needed, and support a smooth revenue cycle. A background in patient registration and strong customer service are essential for success.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience preferred.
• Emergency Department registration experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of various insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) and payors, required.
• Fluency in English; Spanish helpful in some markets.
• MS Office proficiency preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA and all regulations applicable to Admissions and Medical Records handling.
• Provide excellent customer service by meeting customer needs and building relationships.
• Play a role in protecting patient safety by proper identification and triage upon arrival.
• Answer telephone professionally and relay messages to medical staff.
• Obtain signatures on required forms and consents.
